L01 Error Code (as soon as you apply power to unit)

Spoke with customer service and was told that the L01 that momentarily appears and then disappears is not an error code, but a programming code. Following their advice, I plugged unit directly into outlet, L01 came and went, no blue power light. Turned setting from off to smoke, pushed the power button, blue light came and smoker cycled through as expected with a successful smoking session. Now I am learning the nuances of my smoker. Smoked two spatchcocked chickens of roughly the same weight at 250 degree setting. With a temperature probe in each bird, the one under the chimney reached 165 in 2.25 hrs, the one by the hopper end reached 165 in 3.5 hrs. I put both probes in the last bird to ensure there was no error. Both birds looked and tasted fantastic. Anxious to master my particular smoker and am delighted to have it back in service again.
I was told the same thing initially, however my unit did not stay powered on, and nothing responded (once the L01 went away ~5 seconds after power up). Two new controllers later, I think it's working correctly.

I would love to see an aftermarket PID controller available for my specific unit (as I do not want to modify the controller faceplate to fit one of the currently marketed PID controllers (I think it's tacky to do that to a $500 unit, and can't believe that someone hasn't come up with a better solution).

L01 is a firmware code that comes on when you first plug in. Some units have L02 codes.
It goes off in a second but the power button light stays on, this is how it is supposed to work.
Just push the power button and you are in start up mode.
At least on my PRO SERIES PB850PS2 unit with the PID controller.

TBH using a Savannah Stoker controller is far worth the cosmetic change you have to do to a $500 grill. If you want a solid PID controller that is fool proof and works without making changes to fit the controller then you can spend $1700 for a Pellet grill.

Believe me adding a Savannah Stoker controller is well worth it believe me as you can be creative so it does not look bad. The main thing it will change the way you grill. Savannah Stoker and Smoke Daddy controllers are not developed by a Chinese company so you know you will get a solid product with either one.

I have the Pittboss 820 pro and it is junk .I will never waist money on anything with there name on it again. I'VE had nothing but problems with this unit and as far as the customer service , they keep saying the same thing . Uncontrollable temperatures, overfeeding pellets , fires, even blew the lid up several times Small explosions. It took 6 months to get a temp probe . Then it ended up being the control board That didn't fix it made the problem worse. The pit then Cought on fire and Almost burnt my house down . Pittboss grills need to be took off of the market before someone looses there home or there life .
