One thing that has become apparent to me with my KC Combo is that I don't have nearly enough counter type space to set things, or enough room to store things for that matter. That was one nice thing about my old Member's Mark grill. It has ample counter space, and storage. Several drawers, a built in cooler (which I used as a trash can). I don't miss the grill but I do miss that.
Old grill attached below.
I also had this old charcoal grill that has seen better days. I started to list it on FB Marketplace, until I realized a new one is cheap enough it's not worth buying new grates and whatnot for this one. So, I decided to cannibalize the bottom of it and build a grill cart for my KC C. I had a piece of butcher block left over from the cabinet that I installed in our pool house this past spring. I saved the piece that I cut out for the sink.
Slapped that bad boy on as is after putting two coats of spar urethane on it. I should have put it on the table saw and trued the sides up (they were cut out with a jigsaw and are far from perfect) but I didn't. Very little time in it and no money so far. I plan to secure a bucket below to store my pellets in, instal some hooks for utensils, and some sort of dry storage for my thermometers.
It's a bit low, I may raise the top up level with the side shelf on my KC Combo. We'll see.
I'm all ears for any clever ideas on what to do from here to make it most useful.
