Mods to the PBV4PS2

So much easier to use a plastic putty knife. On the sides of the controller are 6 tabs, 3 on each side. Slide the putty knife in to depress each tab, whole controller will pop out. Unconnect the old one, save the gasket off the old controller and put it on the new controller.
Reconnect all the connectors, slide it back in and it will snap into place.
I can swap out my controller now in under 5 mins. Beats taking out all of those screws and probably loosing one or two.

You must be talking about replacing it one for one......the RecTeq has totally different dimensions.....so I cut a piece of Lexan to fit the Recteq in....and then drilled holes to install it where the PitBoss plate was located.

Nice thing about putting in the RecTeq is that I will likely never need a putty knife to remove it.....because it is going to last until I sell the smoker. :)

How much did a Rectec set you back?
Yoder wants $469.00 for a Yoder/Fireboard PID controller. Which is way to much for me.

Unless you know someone who owns one....then you can't buy one. I used to own one and so I went in a got a replacement....because mine "broke" :) They don't make you bring in your old one either....and it cost nothing because it was under warranty.

But there are lots of others....that are much cheaper than Yoder for sure.

Smoke Daddy ($219)

Tom did a review of a pellet grill upgrade with this controller....should be similar on the PB4 vertical.

Camp Chef (Non-WIFI) $150

Camp Chef (WIFI) $219

Camp Chef (WIFI-20) (Open Box) ($195)

BBQ Grill Temperature Gauge Waterproof Large Face for Kamado Joe Barbecue Charcoal Grill Stainless Steel 150-900°F Cooking Thermometer for Oven Wood Stove Accessories Tool Set Up Easy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XX9T9F...abc_HAEK7044ZVHY123G0XT1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

There are a ton of them but this looked like it would fit and came with the gasket. It also goes about 2 inches into the smoker and sits right above the top grate.
Thanks DanStealth, I also have the PBV4PS2. Been very happy with the performance. Ordered the temperature gauge per the Amazon address you have on your page. I think it will be a good plus. Thanks again, Randy
