New app update, cant power on grill "safety reasons"

When I attempt to use the Pitboss app, seems like I can no longer power the grill on anymore and get a message stating "Due to safety reasons please turn on your grill via the control board on your actual grill"

Is this a new change? Now I have to physically go outside to turn it on and warm it up.

I could never start my smoker through the app, always had to do it by the controller. Safety issue and liability issue Pit Boss doesn't want I would guess.

I agree with Mike, it's never been possible to turn on the grill from the app on either one of mine. Turning off is no problem.

That seems silly. I don't use the app, but remote or delay starting seems like a powerful feature!

I open the lid to start and don't close it until the big white smoke cloud is gone. I'd never want to be away from it on startup.

It sounds frustrating that you now have to turn on the grill manually due to that safety change in the Pitboss app; it seems inconvenient for remote use!

I can tell you as a retired FF and 39+ year BBQ guy, one of the most dangerous procedures is the lighting of a grill. If the gasses build up, slow ignite, incomplete combustion occur for a period of time you are looking at a catastrophic issue. I have seen grills exploded, thrown an extended amount of distance with significant force.
