The bags certainly are thin. I don’t recall seeing broken bags at the store. When I poured them in my storage buckets there weren’t a lot of small pieces or dust in the bottom of the bag. Some of the longest pellets I’ve seen, may cause issues feeding on some smokers.I haven't confirmed it yet, but my buddy (who met with some Dansons execs a couple of months ago) told me that Dansons (owners of pitboss, Louisiana smokers, etc) are making the costco pellets in their recently acquired factory, and that pitboss pellets now come from that factory too.
Danson companies used to just buy pellets from the lowest bidder in each region, so consistency was a big problem. If the new pellets are good, it could be a game changer.
I haven't seen the costco pellets yet (we just took delivery on a couple of tons of lumberjacks, so I haven't been looking), but I am told their bags are pretty thin and the bags in store had a lot of damage. Can someone who has seen them in person give an opinion?
Some of the pellets are long but I've used them with no issues. I blend them with the charcoal pellets which are harder. Was in Costco over the weekend and saw they now have their own private label pellets. Haven’t used them yet, but 40lbs for $14… gotta try it.
I’m not sure who makes them, BM has a similar blend as do other manufacturers.
