I would just re season it with cooking spray . Spray it up and bake it the rust will be gone

Do this for the inside.

do you grill a lot at temperatures above 350?

I only use mine for lower temp cooks and mine has two rust spots.

I find this also . All metal will rust its a function of nature and the higher temps seem to have an effect no doubt

Yes, do not paint the inside. Only paint the outside.

I do not have a spec of rust on the outside, but the inside is rust city.

My Pitboss came out of the box with rust on the grates where the paint was chipped, rust on the wheel mounting plate and the paint has lifted on the side tray. This cost me over £1000 in the UK and the quality is nowhere near what I would have expected. Customer service from the UK supplier is non existent as I also have a couple of factory fitted screws missing that mean I have grease drips from the hole which should have the screw securing the gas burner.

I keep mine covered and almost every internal component is rusted. I've replaced almost every component except the control board from a kit on Amazon. Apples and oranges, but I've had a Weber Genesis grill that I've had for about 20 years that is in better shape than this 2 year old Pit Boss. It sits right next to it.

All I do is clean spots up and spray olive oil on it or rub bacon grease on it. As long as it stays protected you shouldn’t have any issues
