After reading the instructions. I did the Hopper Priming procedure. Next is the First=Usee- Grill burn-off. Am I to use the pellets during the first use? instructions don't state to add pellets

The OP's question was never answered -- Yes - you use pellets because that is the fuel in the firepot that makes the heat for the initial burn in and the rest of your cooks.
