Good evening. I'm fairly new to pellet grills and certainly Pit Boss. Been reading here for awhile and decided to go ahead and register. I have a vertical PBV4ps1 smoker. I am not new to bbq/grillin/smoking. I'll be age 75 in about 6 months, now live in central Texas about 85 miles North of Austin near Killeen, but I raised cattle over in East Texas for years (beefmasters and Charolaise/Simmental cross) so I know my way around a beef carcass. I've had this smoker about 2 1/2 months now and really REALLY like it. (I also have a cheap wood/charcoal offset grill/smoker combo and I REALLY hate it.) I did not think I would like pellet units, as I'm an old mesquite smoke guy but now I'm hooked on 'em. It's been a learning process but my son down near Houston has been using pellet grills (and just about every other types) for years, so he giving me some pointers. He's a Traeger and Green Mountain guy tho..offset grills, not vertical.
So far I have smoked:
2 racks of spare ribs (at different times)
1 small trimmed brisket.
2 packages of what is called 'country style' ribs here. One from loin and one from butt end.
1 beercan chicken

I will have some pictures later and will try to explain how I got this smoker and it's a long funny story I think but I'm glad it happened.
I will also show how I repaired a somewhat common problem with the vertical units. I will warn ya, my smoker no longer looks exactly like these photos.
