while starting my Pro Series 820 last night, It got to temp 165 then noticed the temp gradually decline. The hopper was full of new pellets. After watching the temp gradually drop, I shut the smoker down and pulled the everything out to look at the burn pot. I found it full of pellets, to the point it overflowed into the barrel. I am not sure of what could be the cause of this. It should also be noted that the pot and grill was just cleaned as well before use. Could this be a faulty fan?

Was the pot full of ash covering the igniter? I vacuum mine after every cook. If let go it will build up and cover the igniter. Obviously you said everything was cleaned before use. Maybe igniter not working. Time for a call to Customer Service.

Sounds like a flame out. I'm not sure what caused it in your case. When your smokers burn pot goes out it keeps feeding pellets but they aren't being burned. I found this article on causes of flame outs. Hope it helps.

It may be a flame out after reading this article, shortly after starting the smoke there were bursts of high wind gusts. I will try it again and see if it starts and runs. If not then I know there is another problem.

Yea I would check voltage to the igniter.i just replaced mine when I replaced my burn pot it came with it so I used it.i left the heat shield off so I could watch it to make sure it worked. I know you definitely don't want to touch it in case it is working

This happened to my 820 numerous times before PB sent me a new controller board. No problems since.

Mine did the same thing. I actually tried to manually start some pellets but it always resulted in the same cycle of the auger turning, primer element getting hot, but not catching fire and finally cycling off on an error code. I called 'em up and explained and they told me the combustion fan had likely gone out (indeed it had) and sent me a new one free of charge. It was a bit of a hassle getting the old one out, but I finally managed. It's been working perfectly ever since. Also I removed the (stuck) auger and cleaned out the charred pellets that resulted from my foolish attempts to manually light it. LOL
