I just picked up the PB850PS2 this weekend. I can only change the temperature by 50° +/- . Is that normal? I thought it was adjustable by 25°.

Hmmmm. I do not know, I thought these new PID controllers would adjust by 5 degrees. You might want to give them a call and ask. My older PB grill has Smoke, 200, 225, 250 and then goes up in 50 degree increments but my vertical Pit Boss does 25.

If it does use 50 degrees that is a bit disappointing.

Hmm. ok maybe it does 200,225 then 250. i only tried 250- 300+. I will give it a shot.

I just looked for their phone number and could not find the toll free number. A google search only brings up this number

480-923-9630

Try calling them now while it is early in the day they are better at answering or calling back early in the day.

Oh yeah, and if you like the grill and decide to keep it be sure to register it at the website and they will email you a $25 coupon. I don't know if there are covers for this model or not yet but someone here bought the cover for the Austin XL and said it works perfect.

Ok, if you have a controller that looks like this then it will be 50 degrees.

Someone on the Lowe's sit reviewed one with the new PID controller (which does not look anything like the one above) and while they like the grill they were disappointed that it doesn't go up in 5 degree increments, only 50.

Actually my 850 temp starts with 5 degrees. then 200. What would 5 degrees be for? I bought mine as well after reading (or being led to believe) that the PID controller was infinitely adjustable... Why on earth would we be limited to 5, 200, 225, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450 and HI with a digital controller? and no 275?!

The 5 is actually a S for smoke. I tried and all it does is maintain a lower temp. 165 ish to 225 with no Smoke Density Control. I would like Pit Boss to explain that!!!

I think it was an instant email. I would call them and ask about it. As for a cover you can probably find the Austin XL cover at walmart.

I heard the cover for the Austin XL fits the 1150 Pro Series, but there is not a cover yet for the 850 Pro Series.
I am gonna try to register again, maybe they forgot about me this time.
There is no SMOKE DENSITY CONTROL for these grills as advertised!!!
WTF Pit Boss you advertise something that the product does not have??
can you do that legally??
