Pellets

Pit Boss does not carry a 100% Natural Cherry. Just 100% Apple, Hickory, and Mesquite are 100% Natural with no other wood in it. They sell them in 20lb bags.
I just purchased 2 40 LB bags of Canadian Maple Blend pellets they are PitBoss pellets and are made in Canada and what it says on the bag is that they are 100% Natural Hardwood pellets,no place on the bag does it say Oak or Alder added .this is one of the bags I purchased for a good price at least here in Canada it is

If it does not state on the bag that there is Oak and Alder then it is 100%. I cannot find Maple in Tennessee as Pit Boss outsources there Pellets as they are made by different companies based on thr region.

According to this site Louisiana Pellets are 100% and they have Cherry below is the Apple.

Pit Boss uses 100% hardwood. There 20lb bags of Apple, Mesquite, and Hickory are 100% natural. The Cherry Blend uses Apple wood in it.

I am not sure that they do not Blend in Oak and Alder in the 40lb Blend bags, but it will say on the bag.
wonder why my Pit Boss mesquite says Mesquite Blend??
it's not 100% mesquite that's why.
I'm looking into other brands that are 100% what the flavor says it is.

Canadian Maple blend, so what's it blended with??
oak or alder, which are hardwoods, so the label is correct, it would say 100% Canadian Maple.
trust me they would brag if it were 100% Canadian Maple, it would not say blend on that bag.

When it comes to pellets long as it does not have any harmful chemicals I am good.

I purchased some Pitboss apple pellets from Walmart, and it says apple. Recently, I purchased a bag at Menard's and it says apple blend. I suspect the blend is the oak or alder that others are mentioning. The pricing per pound was about the same. I will say that my pallet is not so discerning, I cannot really tell the difference in what pellets are used. I can taste the difference between salmon on the pellet grill versus salmon in the oven, but salmon cooked with apple pellets or with hickory, I cannot really tell the difference. Perhaps that is due to too many fillers, with little actual differentiation?

Look closely at the descriptions on the website. Every Pit Boss pellet I've seen is blended with something. The 100 percent hardwood statement is true just a little misleading. I could be wrong, but the blends are for cost and performance.

It is most likely the same, just better labeling on the more recent one.

The wording can be tricky. A company can make a pellet that is 95% Alder, 5% Apple, and still be 100% natural. The fillers used are natural. Do you know if there is a difference between the ones labeled 'Apple' and the ones labeled 'Apple Blend"?

I think what you're seeing is the different packaging from box stores. Pit Boss makes exclusive products for different companies. Wal-Mart's bag doesn't say blend like Lowe's but States that it is a maple blend as well on their website. Different ratio???

Yep, the stores have different blends. Lately I am using Bear Mountain as I have a ton of those bags in my shed. Normally I buy PB pellets at Walmart and their blends are different than Lowe's on Competition Blend, Apple and maybe even fruitwood blend.
