Pit Boss app is worthless

When I stand next to my Pit Boss smoker (in the garage) and setup the app, it connects to bluetooth and wifi just fine. As soon as I walk in the house (much closer to the wifi router), it drops the wifi connection and the bluetooth connection (due to bluetooth range). So the only way I can use the app is if I'm standing next to the smoker. Totally worthless. My brother-in-law has a Traeger smoker. Their app is awsome. Pit Boss needs to get their act together. Also, I tried deleting and re-downloading the app. Still doesn't work. Guess I'll have to buy a wifi meat thermometer.

Wifi works great. I went for the much less expensive version on Amazon that looked like an Inkbird clone. It saves some trips to the grill and offers a monitor on the grill temperature. It is one of the purchases that I am very happy to have.

I've never had a problem with the app connecting wirelessly. Hopefully tech support can help you out.

I have the meater+ and it works great. its probably a version of most of the probes like that. The only thing about it is the thickness doesnt really make it feasable for thinner cuts like chicken breasts, etc.

Hello Harley and everyone else!
Pit Boss App has worked good for me so far whenever I have lost connection or error was because of no pellet and a faulty extension cord I was using switched that out.
Like members have said doesn’t hurt to call Pit Boss very friendly people and something I had to do some month ago was upgrade my internet system I got a google mesh router because I got a newer modem from Spectrum with faster speed internet. It’s an investment but it’s definitely helped my devices connectivity. Thought I should share hope it helps.

Since my PBs have internal antennas for WiFi the signal getting to those boxes if very important. I have a mesh network with strong signal throughout my home and garage. Before the mesh connectivity was an issue for me with remote devices such as cameras and my irrigation automation.

This just happened to me exactly, it took me three hours to figure it out. I just got a new router/modem 5g and new phones. I talked to pit boss and they said my provider has to split my wifi from 5g to 2.4 so it will work. Well I did that and nothing changed so I phoned pit boss again. They walked me through it cancelling the app and reinstalling it. I had to put my pit boss back on 2.4g using the little pencil emoji on the app. It all works good again.
