Pit Boss pro 1600 long preheat time.

yah i meant controller. ok, ill just give it the old "wait and see" stratagey. im fixing to fire it up and smoke a small chicken for dinner tonight. see how it goes.

during my run up to 350 yesterday it seemed to stall at 220 range for a bit but overall it seemed to keep marching up the scale all the way to 350. just took awhile. thanks for advices
Hey, buddy. Any updates?

So I'm doing my first burn off. And I'm currently in the process of bringing the grill up to 350° f. It's been over 40 minutes now and the grill has just now reached 300° f. The temperature is still slowly rising. Is it normal for it to take that long to preheat? The outside temperature is currently 64° f and a little breezy would that cause it to slowly heat up?
I would be curious to compare notes . I just put together my new 1600 and am actively doing my first burn. 65° and fairly humid here. I have all grates and griddle inside. I'm coming up on about 45 minutes and I'm at 386 and climbing. No immediate idea why the notable difference. I'm using a 50/50 blend of lumberjack charoak and competition blend (I was hoping the bit of charcoal would speed up my heating so that's my only guess)

I believe it will heat up faster over time. @ANT0407 can chime in, I think he has this model.
Yes I have the 1600, it does learn and heat up quicker the more you cook on it. I never run mine over 275 usually but to get to that temp it takes maybe 20 minutes. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

A thought I had after I replied was, I usually set my temp at 300 or higher and measure the Chamber temp with my Thermoworks signals. Due to the temp difference I set my controller at what ever gives me the temp I'm shooting for on my signals. Unfortunately it never matches and depends on the the weather conditions at the time
