Pit Boss Server not working?

Yeah, it's working intermittently now. Support said they had an issue with their database server. Again, don't know why we need to log in to manage a local Bluetooth device. I don't have to log into Samsung to use my ear buds, Bose to play music on my ColorSound speaker, Kenwood to play music on my truck stereo... the login requirement is stupid.
Logging in and using Pit Boss servers is what allows you to control and monitor your grill from the other side of town. That's how it's supposed to work, but sadly it's inconsistent and not reliable.

Data collection is big business. You can't correct data unless it moves through a server.

I would bet that if you where to set software to monitor traffic you would see your inkbird trying to talk to the mothership.

I got a smart TV a few years back even though I dispise the entire concept. I gave it network access to update firmware and then there was no way to disconnect it. They wanted the data. The only way to stop it was in the firewall in my router by blocking it.

Why should you have to login to a server. I don't have to with my inkbird.
I don't have an Inkbird, but did some searching. Your data has to go through Inkbird servers to enable you to monitor and control the device from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. When you first got your Inkbird and downloaded the app, there was probably some type of initial registration process that, going forward logs you into their server so your app and device see and talk to each other. Oh yeah, and it looks like the servers could be China.
