Had a significant grease fire inside the chamber last night. Before you ask, the answer is yes. Yes, it was cleaned before the smoking took place. I was smoking hamburgers, which turned out very good. I was at the point where I had to turn up the temp to 400 for sear effect. As temp was rising, at about the 330 degree mark, I smelled something funny, looked over at smoker and saw way too much smoke. Got closer and noticed flames inside the chamber. Opened the door to check and the entire back side erupted in fire from the grease drain area. Smoker was still running and then the ERH code shut the smoker down. Fire probably lasted about 45 seconds to a minute and then burnt out. There was also smoke coming from inside the hopper chamber. Looked in and it and saw smoke emitting near the auger unit. Wasn't sure if pellets inside there were on fire as well. I was prepared for the worst and then about 5 minutes later the smoke stopped in the chamber. I will be checking/cleaning the smoker today. Kind of nervous to turn the smoker on to check operability. Also, what about the temp probe? Would this fire damage the effectiveness of it now? Looking for any and all help with this one.
