Pro 850 temp issues

I’ve had my Pro 850 for a little over 2 months. I had spoken with a PitBoss rep about the set temp vs. Actual temp differences and was told to keep trying. I find that the actual temp is typically much lower. Sometimes over 50 degrees. Is this normal?

Not sure if this is typical and I’m just being picky?
 
Hello, I have the same issues with my 850. I called and they they sent me a new RTD probe and that didn’t help. My next call they ordered me a new controller. We will see if that helps when it come in. Just for reference, my temps are 25-30 below within an inch of the RTD and about 10 less on the other side of the chamber. Center of the chamber is roughly the same as the temp next to the RTD. At higher temps (400+) the difference will hit 55-60 degrees less next to the RTD.

Customer support said that was definitely not right and ordered me a new controller. They also said I had old firmware and the new controller should have the newer version. Guess we will see.

Thanks. I believe I already have the updated controller as it goes up in 10 degree increments. Not sure if there is anything else to differentiate between them. I don’t think I’m missing anything so it’s frustrating.

I have heard from a few friends with other brands not reporting this issue so I’m not sure if this is a PitBoss thing or if this is just part of smoking.

That is normal on my 1600 and it does have an updated controller. That's why I use an external ambient probe to monitor my temp in the cooking chamber.

Same issue here except I've been waiting for my replacement controller since August 9th. Did they give you a tracking number or a text saying it shipped?

No
I have the 820 and right after I seasoned it the control panel went out. They sent me a new one but you have to let it run for about 30 minutes and then cook on it. It’ll take a few times before it will learn your normal settings mine is usually within a couple of degrees every time.
I also have a smoke tube I got from Amazon for more smoke.
Roll that smoke !! And welcome to the group

Hey DQsmokes, I don't and they didn't. They said it was back-ordered at the time they ordered it for me. I just assumed it would be a long time before I got it, given others, like you, that have been posted their experiences here. That said, they told me the RTD probe was back-ordered and I received it a month or so later. Funny thing about that is the website shows the order is still unfulfilled and I never received an communication that it was shipped.

I hope your get yours soon.
