hi, wondering if anyone else has had an issue with the pit boss platinum brunswick setting on fire. bought brand new and already assembled from wall mart, went thru instructions. did the initial burn in for 30mins at 350f, turned it off, turned it back on, put a load of meat in there.. the temp wouldnt go higher than 215f which was odd, my partner went to check on it an hour later and the whole thing was on fire (nearly set fire to the house) it is totally trashed and melted.. still waiting a call back from pit boss on this. We have always used gas or charcoal smokers, wanted an electric one so we didnt have to babysit the process, now we are scared to death of electric pellet smokers?

Wow
Was your heat shield installed correctly? Was your water pan full of water? Grease fire will happen if it is left empty.
Hopefully know one got hurt, and no property damage.

to my knowledge everything was aok.. it was brand new - 1st ever use. pan was full of water. never been used before. followed the instructions to the T... contacted pit boss directly but sadly pit boss showed zero interest or responsibility (not what i was expecting after shelling out nearly 600usd on a pellet smoker) walmart however were stellar, and took faulty unit back and swapped it for a new one (as it was in the 30days) went thru the same process - exactly! and this one seems to work fine.. be careful,
