Got the infamous "ERR" on my display just when I had two ribs ready to cook. Saw the Youtube video on replacement. Grill is just a year old. Got my replacement part next day via Amazon Prime. Here are my tips:

Use a pick to clean out the heads of the four burn pot sheet metal screws and scrape their sides on the burn pot. Only one screw was difficult to break loose. My Amazon part did not include new screws. The screw locking the igniter to the pot was no problem.

The worst part of the replacement was removing the screws holding the plate under the hopper. All machine screws were installed super tight. I had to use a hammer and manual impact wrench on two. Had to rock those screws in both directions in order to break them loose. I feared buggering the heads which would create a new problem but I got lucky.

I will keep an extra igniter on hand so I don't half to use my Instant Pot pressure cooker to solve a crisis.

Interesting. Haven't had to replace my igniter yet. But have had to pull it from the burn pot several times because the set screw came loose and needed to be tightened. Also didn't have problems with screws under the hopper when replacing the controller. Still have 3 years under warranty and hope not to replace any more parts...And then I woke up! I'm fortunate to have a 2nd chip smoker in an event like yours.

I bought my grill from Lowes fully assembled. I'm a guessing they used a screw gun to assemble the grill which would explain the tough to remove screws.

I assembled my own but if I remember correctly, the screws under the hopper were already installed. I don't doubt Lowes using a power screw gun though.
