I agree. I just want it to get the temp within 5 degrees of what I set and keep it there. Seems like a very simple request, just like for your oven in the house.

Yes! In this we both agree. Pitboss’s controllers are the worst out there….compared to ReqTeq, Camp Chef, Traeger, Masterbuilt Gravity…..etc. BUT they are popular because they are much cheaper. Would you pay more for a smoker with a better controller…? Most people pay cheap and suffer through it…..it’s unfortunate but true.
