What's up with rib prices?

Remember the summer of 2020? They were killing pigs by the thousands when the packing plants closed and they had no place to ship them. A lot of farmers quit raising pigs...at least for a while. We're still feeling the effects of that. IPC (Indiana Packers Corp) here in Indiana has billboards all over paying $18.50 (up from $15) for production workers. Along with high grain prices, higher shipping costs ( fuel is at least 50% higher, THANKS JOE!), and they're having trouble getting big rig drivers back to work!

Poultry is next. We aren't going to see $ .49 turkeys this year!!!!
Let's go Brandon!!!

Already bought our turkeys. In fact, I already have everything for Thanksgiving already in the freezer. Walmart and Winn Dixie had plenty of turkeys last Saturday so I bought two. The past 3 years we have done "boneless" birds. The smaller ones and they turn out excellent. I do two of them on the Pit Boss and there are still plenty of left overs by having 2 birds.

May have to go this route...

Been a few months since I have done ribs. Normally I can get a couple of racks for 8 or 9 bucks. Yesterday I noticed the roices have skyrocketed to around $23 a slab!
We go to Sam's club you can get a pack of 3 for not much more than that. We kinda like the saint lewis style ribs if we go to a grocery store there is more meat
We also have a separate freezer in one of my buildings because my wife catches alot on sale and we can stock up
Just be careful and watch your dates because pork has just a little over a year shelf life and will get what my dad used to call a rusty taste
