When you empty the hopper, do you need to empty the auger also?

No question is stupid...maybe stupid answers tho! Yes, with the Lockhart, it's either on or off and I'm burning the pellets out. I'm not sure about the other models without the PID controller. I've only done it a couple of times.

Lumber Jack is now my favorite pellets as I have tried everything under the sun accept for a few. Lumber Jack is producing better smoke and better heat consistency. I just bought a bag of B & B comp as it was on sale and I will try them as soon as my Lumber jack competition is used up in my hopper.

I have a feeling that the Lumber Jack will win this battle.
I have the 820 and have found Lumberjack char hickory to be the best, little to no dust, great consistent smoke and heat.

Just a heads-up Guys-regardless of what pellet you use always pour the pellets through a colander before putting them in the hopper to sperate the pellets from the sawdust that comes with them in the bag. The sawdust from the pellets builds up in the auger tube and is not your friend. Look for shinny pellets, less sawdust.....

I just emptied my auger a couple of days ago because I dont know when I will use it again. I just took everything out kept the lid open and keeped my finger on the prime button let it cook the pellets and put it on cool down then cleaned it all up. I live in missouri (KC) and right now it so foggy you cant see your hand in front of your face. So yeah, its humid!
