Don’t worry. People are gonna give you a bunch of crap about buying something on sale. Good job! You don’t need expensive products to make great food. It’s like people that buy $75,000 boats and go fishing and catch less than the guy that has a $3000 boat. Keep on smokin

I haven’t tried charcoal yet, what’s your assessment on those and best bow to use
I was mixing PB comp blend and charcoal 50/50 and we liked it alot. My wife likes more of a gentle smoke flavor. I bought a few bags of BM savory blend to try. I know I can always go back -- I smoked everything with that blend -- fish, poultry, beef and pork. Loved it all.

I recommend sifting them. The bags I bought from Lowes were not handled gingerly. I had two bags with a significant amount of dust and tiny pieces which seem to help in clogging your auger.
Thx. I started sifting a while ago. So far my Sam’s Club purchases have been pretty clean but I’ll keep an eye out

The bags I bought at Winn Dixie had almost no dust, nor particles. I sifted three bags and could still see the charcoal bits from the Lowes bags. I think 80 lbs produced about half or so of a 5 gallon buckets of bits and dust.

With the Sam’s Club pellets I’ve never had near that for bits and dust. The last bag yielded maybe a cup in all. I have a couple bags of others brands in the garage to try. It’ll be interesting to see what happens
