Back ordered controller

Good news today. Got an email from Fed Ex and my Silver Star controller has been shipped. Should arrive Saturday according to the email. On the phone with Pit Boss before getting this email and the tech said he'd send me an alternate controller that would work with this smoker. Now I'll have two controllers. Never hurts to have a spare. Heat element for this unit came in the other day. 850 controller is still back ordered but there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. At least I can still use the 850. Looking forward to getting the old chip smoker going again.

If this controller, in fact arrives Saturday, it will be 2 days less than 4 months waiting.

Actually got the controller and a 2nd unit for a spare. All works well except temps are a bit off from what is displayed. Glad to have it back working. The install was easy.

Since this is a wood chip smoker as opposed to a pellet smoker, it definitely provides more smoke flavor but is s bit more of a project to use. Already did a meatloaf that turned out great. Expect to do a batch of sausages this weekend. Will likely still use my 850 most of the time but nice to have options.
