New Firmware for Pit Boss Pro 1150

Finally got through to pit boss, the very nice lady said that there is NO update for the 850 PRO SERIES, I asked her about the 1150 model that some people are sending their controllers in for re-programming and she said that it's a different controller and it has a different program that can be updated. Said the new increment settings are to help maintain the temperatures.
So she said all they can do is replace the controller but it would be exactly the same as original one.
So no luck with my 850 as far as better temperature increments.

She also asked me what my P setting was at.????
I told her it does not have a P setting and she said yes it does, now does anyone with a Pro Series PS2 have a P setting?
I have been shopping around for a new smoker/grill and while doing research I came across this forum. I have been looking at the 850 and 1150. I reached out to their support to confirm and got the below response so I can confirm you are correct that this fix is not for the 850. The 850 is a better size for me but I might have to go with the 1150 just for this fix.

“This is not for the PB850PS2 model, it is only applicable for the PB1150PS2. There is talk of an app update in the future for the increments mentioned, but at this time the increments on the 850 unit are the only ones available.”

so doesn’t look like there’s a change to my temps. 200-225-250-300...
The IT is flashing on the controller, not sure if that means connected or if there’s an issue... time to read manual haha.
But it came up in temp fairly quick... about 10 mins from power on to 230 (taking it to 350 to hold for 40 mins and go through steps)

edit1:quick question... can I use probes from another set of the plug is the same?

Edit2: did some forum searching and someone mentioned using a 2.4ghz connection, so I swapped over to my 2.4 ghz connection and it’s connected over wifi and Bluetooth now.
Just in case someone was having similar issues not being able to connect through wifi but could through Bluetooth.
On my KC combo a flashing IT symbol means it is not connected to WiFi. I had to update the firmware through an Android phone as two iPhones were not able to detect that a firmware was available.

Well, the hope for a change to my 1150's updated PID controller board came to a crash last night as I did my first cook since receiving the firmware updated controller back. I am a patient man but in this case enough is enough, the same temperature problems still exist. I have to pump the auger manually to get the temps up from the smoke modes as the temps would rise and stay at a certain level they didn't go up to the dialed in temperature. I finally got it up to 350 to cook and the internal temp read out from the meat probe took most of the cook to catch up.. I called the Lowe's manager who apologized to me and said that I could return it but I don't have any way to get it to the store. My van was great but the assembled unit won't fit.. She graciously agreed to have the unit picked up at my house tomorrow.. I hope she follows thru.. I am now in the market for a new pellet grill and am looking at Camp Chef or RecTech but the latter seems like a little too much money. I guess I'm tired of jumping thru hoops only to be BS'd about the next great method to make it work, really no reason to put this out to market until runs right.. I spent 35 years in the electronics industry many in support of old and new products and I am sorry to say that this is a con job..

Damn that sucks but great if Lowe’s picks the grill up for you. I hear you on the electronics of the controller and not to mention the PID programming. I have seen some bad programming dealing with VFD drives due to not getting the parameters set correctly. This seams to be one of the issues along with a improperly set probe not reading correctly. This is a complete F up on Pit Boss trying to compete with all the other manufacturers coming out with WIFI controllers.

just to let everyone know this firmware update is not just for 1150 it is for all of the new Pro Series PID controllers.
Will this work for the 1100 series combo from Lowes? The controller looks the same except the 1100 has 2 probe ports and the 1150 has 4 probe ports. I need the 10 degree increments on my 1100, but Pit Boss says not available. Can I just replace with the 1150 and call it a day?
