No Smoke Taste

My Tractor Supply order of Bear Mountain apple pellets arrived yesterday. Pickup couldn't have been easier. Pulled up in front of store, called listed phone number and within minutes a friendly clerk brought my order out and placed it in my back seat. The bag was in good shape. Can't beat the price. Looking forward to trying them.

When you do let us know. I'm pretty happy with my Sam's Club pellets but always keep the door open for options.
Our TS is a good store. I get gardening stuff from there.

Will do. Plan to finish up a batch of PB apple pallets tomorrow on chicken drumsticks and look forward to trying the BM apple next time. As I use up other PB pellets plan to replace with BM. Our local Lowes doesn't have BM yet but another not too far away does. Otherwise Tractor Supply will do just fine and is actually less expensive.

This will help lump charcoal and wood chunks... Increase the smoke flavor but not overbearing….

New 1100PRO smoker/grill owner here with the same problem (zero smoke flavor on my meats). I've used it 3 times now on the "S" setting with no success. I want to make sure I am understanding the advice here: purchase a $20 smoke tube to compensate for a defective product to acheieve the results that said defective product should be providing? Also, don't purchase PB pellets for tube, use Lumberjack or equivalent?

This is our first pellet fed cooking device - and I think it will be the last. Our Pit Boss PBV4PS2 Pro Series is a "cooker" not a "smoker". We have tried different pellets and reduced the starting temperature to give a longer time to get that smoky taste. Called Customer Service and they said reduce starting temperature, use Pit Boss charcoal pellets and get a smoke tube. We replaced an ancient Little Chief wood chip smoker with the Pit Boss and the Little Chief produced meat as smoky as you wanted - and we like it SMOKY. This Pit Boss could not produce "dark bark" on a brisket no matter what you did. The Pit Boss seems to control temperature and time correctly, but I can't see investing in smoke tubes and continuing to fuss around with this machine. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Will be looking for a wood chip real smoker.
I’m born and raised Texas boy
I have the 820 , chargrill charcoal grill and a Oklahoma joe.
I’ve been makin my own sauce and smokin meat for over fifty years
I keep my 820 P setting on 4 and never have an issue. I’ve owned for three years now
It’s a learning curve as how to operate and use it
Don’t let one experience throw you in the bar ditch.
Hopefully this helps you and changes your thoughts on the pitboss 🇺🇸🇺🇸
