Pb1600 tripping breaker

Ok, first I’ve got a grill that’s maybe 8 months old. It worked flawlessly for 6, and has been a problem child ever since. First the auger motor went out. Replaced it, worked fine for a week, then the igniter went out. Replaced it. As soon as i replaced the igniter, it grill will only stay powered on for 5 or so minutes. It first started tripping my GFCI outlet, so i swapped it to a dedicated 20a circuit. Now it’s tripping the breaker there too.

PitBoss sent me a new controller and power cord. Still happening. Could it be the igniter they sent me was bad? I’m tired of being a PitBoss mechanic, ready to smoke some meat.

Any recommended igniters ? Tired of waiting on PitBoss warranty replacement parts.

It’s possible but it’s under warranty of course
I’d take it back to where I bought it from and have them replace it

I’ve tried. Academy has a 60 day return. They were no help. PitBoss keeps sending me new parts. I’ve ordered some aftermarket igniters. Gonna see if that’s it.

Another thing to check is the breaker. If it’s weak it’ll trip

I was having the same problem and it was the ignitor. I got a 2 pack from Amazon for 15 bucks and asks berm good.

New house. Tried on two different circuits and it’s done the same thing on a 20a breaker.

BTW there is a "much better ignitor" that'll show up on Amazon and is sold as well by PB. Lots of reports of it causing tripping.

I’ve got some “hot rod” igniters delivering today. Will be a quick and easy test to see if the new igniter works.
