Pellet Dust

Yeah. The sifter fits on top of the bucket. Pour pellets in the sifter, move them around and the crap falls in the bucket. Then dump the sifted pellets in the hopper or another 5 gallon bucket and repeat.

Perfect!!! Appreciate the information sir. I’ll have to empty my hopper but it’ll be worth it in the long run.

Just went through my first bag of pitboss competition pellets. Cleaned the grates and firebox cover. Vacuumed a boat load of pellet dust out of the bottom. Anyone else having this issue?
Guys will screen their pellets to remove dust created in shipping and handling but I've used several different brands and find no reason to do this but you will need to do a cleaning after long burns around the fire box.

But if your'e having issues of dust collecting in the auger and causing issues with moisture then sifting the pellets before adding them to the hopper.

this is what I use to fill the hopper by the scoop.
you just scoop it out of the bag and give a little shake the dust falls right out back into the bag or wherever.
dollar store, I have a few.
Also I have taken the grate off so I can scoop pellets back out and stir or agitate them so they don't bridge up.
It’s a cat liter scooper 🤣

You can have the sawdust with any of the pellets, some less than others. I use the "farm boy" trick with each new bag of pellets - separating the chaff from the wheat". Using two five gallon buckets, I pour from the bag into a bucket, spacing it so the breeze blows the dust away as the pellets go from the bag to the bucket. Using two buckets and repeat, the more breeze the better, and you will not have dust in the hopper.

I think some of this pellet dust could be ash because that's what I get blowing around inside the grill and sometimes it does get on the grates and food but it is very little and doesn't it add flavor?

Found this one online
Looks like the ones I ordered feom Amazon. I got 1/4” and also 1/8” mesh.
I think I posted a pic in here somewhere. But my auger was sitting about 2/3 it’s height in that dust and tiny broken pcs.
I’ll most likely continue sifting after seeing that.
