Pellet Dust

Just went through my first bag of pitboss competition pellets. Cleaned the grates and firebox cover. Vacuumed a boat load of pellet dust out of the bottom. Anyone else having this issue?
Hey Cowboy...... What you are experiencing is correct for pellet smoking! Its dust in your grill is ash. I vac my grill and fire pot after almost every smoke. Depends on how long its used.

If you make cleaning and vacuuming a habit you will have no issues down the road. Enjoy!!!!!

I have run into the same thing but just thought it was normal and I vacuum it out before every run

I had a flame out that I think was caused by to much sawdust in the hopper. I made a 12x12 box from 1x4, ordered #6 mesh off amazon, and use it to filter out the sawdust as needed. As you can see in the pic there was quite an amount of dust from a single 20 lb bag. It works perfect.

I completely cleaned mine out yesterday. took both diverter pans out and vacuumed all the ash and pellet dust out. this was my 3rd cook but the turkey really made a mess. i also grabbed an old brass sifter of my dads to use on the pellets.. learning curve but every time i touch i learn something new
