Well, here’s the update. Still ain’t heard nothing from Pit Boss. After bout a twelve pack I had an epiphany!!!! the wife ain’t got no more magnets on the fridge and we bout outa foil!! I Oklahoma rednecked that sum bitch and damn it works good!! That extra airflow made it get hotter faster than my wife playin with a toy named Channing. I thought I had to turn up the heat do to it not being sealed. Now I got it turned down to 200 and it’s still lingering around 282!!! Time for another beer!!!!

Update: After a week of waiting on Pit Boss to get back with me about the shattered glass I decided to call them myself. I spoke with a super nice lady who told me they wouldn't be getting a new door in stock in their warehouse until mid April. Then another two weeks to ship it to me. She said its better if you take it back to the store (Lowe's) and get a new unit. I explained to her I have no receipt and I decided to throw away the old door thinking Pit Boss would send me another. She said the store should give you a new unit.

I then called Lowes and was told I had to call Pit Boss to 'activate' the warranty and have it fixed.. I explained everything to the Lowes employee but in the end its Pit Boss's fault..

Life lesson learned on glass doors..

Just got this model and did my burn off and first cook yesterday. I’ve read all the posts and complaints. I’m a newbie so I found nothing to really criticize other that maybe having more temp options. Maybe ignorance IS bliss.

Well, I went and retrieved the door I threw away. Went back to Lowe’s and grabbed some sheet metal and self tappers. I’m back up and running again. It’s to good of a smoker to let go.

LMAO...... Oooops..... my wife is calling bullshit on that reflection!!!! . The thin flashing bowed a little in the middle when I screwed it together..... and now I see there is nothing I’m gonna be able to say. Time for a beer.....

Hi, I have a issue with my controller. He "freeze" (stop check temp) when he reach the set temp. So I call the PitBoss support last Monday and they send me a new controller. I received it today (7 days after) and Surprise, I can set temp by increment of 10 degree with the new controller.

keep us posted on the new controller....and if the small incremental temp settings, actual temps, heat up, etc. all seem to be working right...this is great news and if so, my controller seems to be going bad also, how much trouble and how long did it take to change out the controller? thanks, bob

After reading a few reports of these illusive 10 degree increments for the PBV4PS2, and on the cusp of purchasing it, I fired an email off to pitboss. this was their reply at 1:08 PM CST today:

Hi there!
Thank you for reaching out! The PBV4PS2 does not have any updates for the board making it have only 10 degree increments. So far, that is only for the 1150 and the 1600 models.
I apologize for the inconvenience.

So I've heard people say there was an update, I've heard pitboss say there are no updates for this model's controller. Mabe people are getting a replacement controller from one of the other models? I still have a hard time believing anyone right now! With that said, I ended up picking this up over lunch today anyway. So once I get the time, I'll put it together and see how my specific example works out. Also for what its worth, I skipped a bunch of this thread and will go back to reading it now.

Isn't this the strangest thing. The company representatives themselves don't even have all the information, or have different info based on who you talk to. We did the burn in yesterday and we definitely have 10 degree increments on ours. We picked it up this past Tuesday 8/10. Tested via watching it count up as i spun the dial, like DomRoc shows, then set it to 380, which it achieved and maintained. so excited to smoke as soon as possible!
