Sandblasting the ceramic coating off my Griddle?

Would also love to know how it's going.
I got my new griddle top, so ready to get this done.
I've called a few places who told me this job is too small for them. So need to keep searching, but planning on getting it done.
I posted 2 videos on here last night to show how it looks and works. Hope they help.

How is this holding up? looks like the videos removed.

I dont get the impression the ceramic coating will last me much longer. Already on my second top and it it is showing early signs of the coating failing again.

The griddle is fantastic. I accidentally removed the videos. But removing the ceramic is the best thing I did. You can beat the living tar out of it and it just keeps coming back, works fantastic. It's actually funny pit boss doesn't stop making the ceramic coated tops, I've not seen anyone happy with them after about a year or so. Has to be hurting sales I would think.

Hey how is it holding up 7 months later? I'm taking mine in today to get sand blasted. Any chance you have pictures you could upload?

Welcome from Texas to the group!
When you have yours sandblasted are you gonna have them coated?
If so what are they using 🇺🇸🇨🇱

Good deal. Can you post a before and after picture?
Hey just an update, I decided to give up on this idea. I had a local weld shop try soda blasting, which he didn't think would work, but thought he'd try it anyways. It did clean it up really well, but of course didn't take any of the ceramic off. So instead of getting myself a couple hundred bucks into this, I decided to sell the Pit Boss and go with a Blackstone. Not much help to anyone wanting to see results, but wanted to update. Have a good week!

Really like my blackstone!

I have a Blackstone a 4 burner for home and a 2 burner for camping and love the cast-iron cook surface if well seasoned I never have issues with rust and I keep the home one on the back porch

My griddle finish is getting a little long in the tooth. Although the ceramic coating is ok, to me the overall griddle would be perfect without it, as I prefer a regular steel griddle. I just like using metal utensils better than I like my ceramic coating so Im only left with a couple options here. I am going back to metal spatulas and I am done with plastic and wood utensils. With that said.....I either get rid of the Pittboss for another brand unit, OR, I can try to sandblast the coating off and use it as a regular steel griddle. I like this idea better, because I love the rest of the griddle. Has anyone else done this? It would also be nice if Pittboss would sell the griddle without the coating for us guys that dont care for the ceramic.
I'd suggest getting rid of the Pit Boss. Not only is the ceramic griddle so hit and miss, but so is the cabinetry as it will rust quickly. I agree with you that the rolled steel is really easier to deal with if you do it properly. Now I know a bunch of folks will take exception to my comments about the ceramic surface, but I too agree with you that it's just easier to use metal utensils, not worry about damaging the surface, etc. I have the 5 burner ultimate, which is a piece of garbage (I won't go into the details) and I'm doing my research on a rolled steel unit. Lot's of choices out there now. Good luck, and good "griddling"
