Any benefits of one controller (86001/86002, 80146, others) over another, besides the number of probes?

I believe all the PID controllers have the same features with the differences being display and number of probe ports.
If you are comparing the competition series controller to the pro series. The other difference is the competition series let’s you adjust temp in 5 degree increments and the pro series is 10 degree. I have no experience with pro series but I’m extremely happy with the 80062 comp series.

I changed the controller on my PB Pro 1100 Combo (Lowes) to a PB Pro 1150 controller. The 1100 only did 200, 225, 250, 300+ degrees, and 2 probe ports. The 1150 controller gave me 10 degree increments below 300 degrees and 4 probe ports. The wiring is exactly the same, and the controller fit in the existing hole. It was a 2 minute one-for-one swap. Now, works great! I can easily control the temperature with the 10 degree increments. The only thing different I had to do was select PB Pro 1150 as my grill in the app to get the 4 probe ports and 10 degree increments in the app. Very happy here!

I finally received my new 1150 Pro Series controller but after the Ice storm we just had here in Texas it will be a while before I can install it. I have quite a bit of chainsaw work to do.

Always think of Texas as warm this is average here in Wisconsin going to be -1 or less tonight and thinking of putting some burgers on but mainly to show off. Hope everyone ok and you get everything cleared. Always a shame to lose a good tree

I finally got my 1150 Pro Series PID controller installed on my 1100 Pro Series grill. Sure I could have gone with the PID controller that was a direct fit like the OP but I really wanted the 4 temp probe ports. This controller is taller and narrower than the original so it has a small gap on each side. I used an air saw to make the hole taller. It works great and holds temps +/- 3deg all day.

How did it fit, and if I may ask, why did you go with the 1600CS controller rather than the Pro series 1600 controller with 4 probe ports? I am thinking of upgrading my Austin xl.
Just had to trim a little metal out on the lower left and right corners and it snaps right in. Everything plugs right in. I wasn’t sure the Pro Series would plug in the same and it would take more cutting to fit it in. I love it so far, works great!

How does the CS controller conversion work on low temps? I am having trouble with the 200 setting on my 820PS2, puffs of smoke and +/- 25deg swings. Any big puffs of white smoke at 180 or 200? I would like to be able to some at these temps.
