It adjusts how long the auger is on versus how long it’s paused. The lower the P number the shorter the pause is between the auger going on and also the length of time the auger is on putting pellets in the burn pot. This basically controls the temperature which you’ll have to experiment with your particular grill to see what temperature it holds at beach setting. The ambient temperature does affect us a bit. Then what is the “P” setting used for?
This one holds a lot more consistent on the smoke setting..180. My original controller wouldn’t even reach 180 even when I adjusted the P settingHow does the CS controller conversion work on low temps? I am having trouble with the 200 setting on my 820PS2, puffs of smoke and +/- 25deg swings. Any big puffs of white smoke at 180 or 200? I would like to be able to some at these temps.
I’ve had mine about 4 months and it has been flawless. Temps hold within 5 degrees. I’ve not measured heat up time but I’m guessing I get to 350 in about 12-15 minutes.Ok can you guys with the 1600 competition controller confirm it’s a PID and can you provide an update on how it’s preforming? I have an Austin XL with the pro series 1150 controller and I hate it. Takes so long to heat up and doesn’t work as good as the stock one. Pure crap I wouldn’t recommend
Awesome.. I got one on order Pitboss says it is backordered so it’ll probably take a whileI’ve had mine about 4 months and it has been flawless. Temps hold within 5 degrees. I’ve not measured heat up time but I’m guessing I get to 350 in about 12-15 minutes.
The Austin controller is the same but no WifiFor those of you who have upgraded to the CS1600 controller (#80062) on your Austin XL, does the new controller allow the fan and auger and different RPM's? I wasn't sure if that was an option on this one since it runs on AC, or if only the DC controller & DC components allow for this, like on the Pro Series Elite.
Not that it really matters - it sounds like the CS1600 controller works great just as a plug & play. I was really just curious. Also, does it look like the new Austin XL Onyx edition uses this exact same controller (#80062)?

Seems like the Onyx edition makes a couple of nice upgrades over the original, such as the PID controller, lever for flame searing slide cover, and hooks for the upper rack (although I prefer it in back). It's just missing a front shelf and the ash cleanout system, but I guess you can't get all of that for under $500.
Thanks for clarifying. I didn't notice this at first. The Austin controller is the same but no Wifi
Welcome to the clubHello, New to the group Glad I found this place and post. I have a 1000d3 and want to upgrade the controller to one that has a better temp selection range and a PID. From what I am seeing the 80062 should do the trick. Any install advice or suggestions?
I have a 1250 CS smoker, same controller. You can adjust the P setting for Smoke mode, default setting is P4 . The higher the P setting, the more smoke and lower temp, and vise versa.Do the PID controllers have an adjustable smoke mode like some other brands are offering?
