Finally received the controller and heating element for the Silver Star. Installed and working as it should. Not sure yet about temperature accuracy. Will have to check further on that. Interestingly I got a 2nd replacement controller from Pitboss. Nice to have a spare. All arrived a few days under 4 months on back order.
On edit temps are about 25 degrees below displayed in the middle of the center grate.
Still waiting for the 850 controller but that's only been a couple of weeks.

Received my new controller today. I will try to get it installed this week to see if it has the new firmware or if it works better than my current. Hopefully yours comes soon. Mine was ordered on 11/9/21.

Good luck. Keep us posted. Mine is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Was ordered 11/12/21. I was surprised to see the shipment so soon. Just my luck, I had a bicycle accident and will probably be in no shape to make the change for a while, but am looking forward to it. Definitely hoping for the new firmware. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for the good wishes. I am ambulatory but don't think I'm ready to crawl under the unit to make the change yet. I do hope soon though. Looking forward to receiving the controller tomorrow. Think I can guide my wife through the process? The Pitboss tech said his grandmother could do it.

Fed Ex deliverd mine today. No numbers on it to identify anything. Looking forward to getting it installed, which will likely be a while. Can't con the wife into it. At least the old unit still works. May try smoking something for Christmas.
Good deal! I have the same situation...no indicators. I am hoping to get mine in tomorrow or Saturday and will report what I find.

My Wife ordered me a new 850 from Lowes for Christmas, it is suppose to be in on the 22nd of December. Being ne wto all of this how will I know if I have the updated controller or not? Thanks in advance...

The updated controller should have 10 degree temp increments up to 300 degrees. The old goes from 250 to 300. Hope that helps. Am hoping to have the update. Good luck.

I just got the same grill from Lowes. I can confirm it goes up in 10 degree increments to 300, then 25 from there.
However, the app will only let you change in 50 degree increments no matter where you are in the range.
