Are you doing this on the pellet smoker?
and later I'm gonna make lima beans and ham (was a grandkids request) to freeze

I will be making a 6-pound prime rib.
11.5 pound Prime cut of Prime Rib and it's my first time cooking one. Goes in the smoker in the morning to be eaten at 2pm lunch. Baby Jesus, look after this Prime Rib and me cuz if I have the problems I've had with some other first time cooks, I think I'll cry; wet pellets, temp adjustments, and stalls.

Are you doing this on the pellet smoker?
No, stove for both. However, I read a thread about chili on the smoker that piqued my interest.
 
Additionally, my grandkids asked me to make boiled peanuts, so after dinner is done, I'll be doing those on the stove after we are done with dinner.
