2 new temp. gauges and bottle opener for the PB850PS2

The problem with the 850 is the left side is hotter.
The problem with the 1150 is the right side is hotter.
My fix works on the 850, but I know how to fix the 1150 problem too, I don't have one to experiment with so all I can do is tell you what you would need to make to adjust your temperatures side to side. It would take some sheet metal fabrication and welding.
I wonder if Pitt Boss would donate one to me so I can make an adjustable temperature mechanism for it, maybe sell it to them.
Or just the idea. but I know my idea will work, just need some time with the 1150 model.

I don't even think that Pitboss recognizes there is a temperature Hotspot problem...

I have a few pieces of scrap metal to play with...are u willing to post or DM me pics? Sounds like u want to keep it to yourself...all good if that's the case

Pics of what you did would be great for the left right temp differences.

I am also waiting to see the mod...I got the updated controller today and it did not fix the Hotspot issues...I am seeing a 50+ degree differences in different spots on the 1150...I also have the heat diffuser mod under the thermometer and I tried fire bricks with no luck...I'm running out of ideas and patience

I was hoping the Original poster would have replied back about the request to see his heat diffuser mod... and I’ve requested twice. I don’t believe in high jacking someone’s posting... Hopefully we’ll see his mod in the near future. I did a heat diffuser mod on my Austin XL a little over a year ago that’s been very effective. I’ll start a different thread with details and pictures for anyone that’s interested.

He did on another New thread

He did on another New thread
I’m not talking about the mod he did to the Flame Broiler Slider... If there is a new posting with a picture of mod he did to make a heat diffuser... Post the link. Earlier he mentions using a 10 gauge piece of steel, but never a picture of it. Help the forum out and post the link to that thread. Again, not knocking the Original Poster, just curious in seeing the mod if that’s possible.

So I installed my new controller and tested it out, here are the results.
Start up ran fine,
Set to 200*, got to 197* then went down to 193* then finally got to 200*
Set to 225*, got to 220* then went down to 213* then finally got to 225* (actual is 210*-215*)
Set to 250* got to 244* then went down to241* then 248* then 246* finally got to 250* (actual is 240* 245*)
Set to 300* and got similar results, 296* then 294* then 300*
ran a while then turned off grill
All settings were done through the App with no issues or problems at all, the App is working good.
Here is a pic for you @GeekChef the old one on top new one on bottom, I don't see any differences, both are L01 versions.
Did some ribs Sunday, came out great as always. (Holy Garlic, Crazy Cajun, Sweet N Smoky)

Looks like they just replaced the controller with the same version.....BUT....this one is working.....so consider this a BIG win.! Looks like the lag is not too bad on the 850, like it is on the Series 4 V2.

Is your grill set up in the stock configuration? Do you use the "heat deflector" that goes around the fire pit? Any other mods on your grill? And lastly did you monitor the grate temps with probes or just believed what the controller told you the temp was?

My updated controller also holds display temperatures but I notice that the grate temps with various probes show 50+ degree differences than what the controller is displaying and I haven't been able to fix it yet.

@Glock19ftw My grill never came with that thing you describe as a heat deflector like yours. I don't think the 850 has one unless mine is missing that part. Pit Boss asked me about that part once, I told them it didn't come with that and they didn't know if it is supposed to.
And no my grill is not set up stock, I made my own heat shield and my temperatures are the same on the left and right side of my grill.
I have installed two temperature gauges in the lid just above grate level to monitor the temps. left and right sides.

Totally impressed with your mods...! Very balanced heat spread for a barrel type smoker. How is that the grate level as far as temperature gradient...?
