New Pitboss Grills App

Mostly success here. Updated just fine. Using the App just fine. Connects WIFI and Bluetooth fine. I am having a weird issue where if I set the temp of the smoker from the app it will sometimes give me an ERP error on my phone, but still does the temperature change and the display on the smoker is normal. Smoker appears fine.

Really missing graph cooks though. Hard to tell the stall without it. May have to switch to my independent WIFI temp probe setup instead of using the Pit Boss App and only use the app for ambient temp. I was hoping I could do away with that since the smoker has two probes and have an all in one solution. Also the 10 degree changes should be 5 degree changes or at least a box to allow you to set a specific temp.

Are you using an Apple device or Google? It seems a lot of the connection issues are with Apple.
 
Smoker works fine WIFI for me after update. Just that occasional ERP error.
On the one controller I have that works it took a few tries to update and then it worked fine. I just got a PID controller that I can’t get to complete the update after dozens of attempts.
 
I finally got it updated and I may have found a trick for those that are having trouble updating on the new app. After trying to update the controller many times unsuccessfully I tried turning the WiFi on my phone off and it updated with Bluetooth only no problem. Once it updated I turned the phone’s WiFi back on and it worked!

ERP (Improper Shutdown) even though I wasn't shutting it down. I was only setting a new temperature. It changed the temp setting properly and nothing was out of ordinary on the smoker display itself.-J
OK and thanks. Im going to set up the app this weekend and see what happens.

I just got that ERP error today and panicked since I haven't been on here recently. Like everyone else smoker was responding normally. I restarted the app and all was well.

Sorry people I have been rather busy and haven't had much time to read the formum!
We released a new version of the app that should be available in the next hours, and should (hopefully) fix some of the issue that has been reported (moslty with wrong notifications being sent).
While charts are still not part of this update we introduced a few requested features like the ability to set the probes temperature in 1 degress "steps" and the icons indicating the status of the fan, auger and ignitor.
 
I've had "app issues" like not being able to connect the grill to wifi or bluetooth since I bought my unit in November 2020. Sometimes it'll work for a day and then I can't use it again for a month. I always have to unplug the grill and plug it back in for the off-chance it might work.

With this new Pit Boss app, I again can't find/connect to the grill. If I unplug the grill and wait a minute, plug it back in -- It'll show up in "LightBlue" app for about 10 seconds before it disappears into the nether again. It has an incredibly weak signal on the rare occasion I can see it, even with my phone 5 inches from the module.

If I'm able to get the new app to partially find the grill via bluetooth in this 10 second window, I begin to add it to wifi - and before I can complete it, bluetooth from the grill is back off and I can't connect to wifi or bluetooth again.

Today I tried for an hour or so to get it working. The iT light was flashing for the whole hour. Eventually, I gave up and left it powered off but plugged in. Come back an hour later, the iT light is solid - but still no app connectivity on the new Pit Boss app or the old Smoke iT app.
Hello, if the grill disappears from LightBlue i believe your control board might be faulty, have you tried contacting the customer care for a replacment board ?
