I may be away for a bit

I am flying out this Thursday for an interview on Friday. I hope it goes well but right now I am more worried about moving than anything else. I have been prepping myself (working with my current boss) on things that might be asked in an interview. He said to take a binder with me with prepared statements like "strengths and weaknesses", accomplishments, things like that. He also said to have a list of questions to ask them. At the end of every interview they always ask "Do you have any questions for us?". He said they always like for people to ask questions instead of saying "No, nothing I can think of". So I am working on preparing a list of questions.

Good luck to you Mike!

Sounds like you're well prepped. Best of luck. You'll do well.

If it's the same parent company, you can say that you are familiar with how the company runs, but ask a question that cover if they do anything area specific. You can also ask about department size. I work in Quality Assurance and I always ask what the size of the Quality department is. Scariest answer I got one time was, "well..... once we fill this position, there will be 2 people" Not where I wanted to be in an aerospace company. Just be yourself and good luck. Moving sucks, but we do what we have to for our families.

I'll keep everyone updated. I fly out tomorrow morning, interview on Friday morning. And I may not even have an answer by the end of the weekend. I talked to another employee this morning who is transferring to a mill in Alabama and she said she accepted the offer but then did not hear anything back for two weeks! I hope I can get it all ironed out by this weekend. I would love to come home and have an answer.... Not even sure I will get the job but I sure hope so!

@USMC Hitman it's for Quality Assurance. I asked, I would be the third supervisor over about 10 hourly employees.

Do some homework on the company in case they ask what you know about them and what the company stands for. Good luck.

Oh I know all about it! It's my current company! Basically it would be a transfer from one plant to another. I am in Washington state now the first store I walked into had a bunch of camp chef pellets for sale $14.99

It's 50 degrees here! My wife said it's 93 at home in Florida. Beautiful out here and I prefer cooler temps anyway.

Good luck on the job hunting. Deciding where to move would be the hardest part for us. We have a local papermill and it'd really hurt the area if it was to close.

Now I am in Michigan for an interview. Washington is still on the table but cost of living there is extremely high. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do. I have exactly 30 days to find something.
We have a friend in Michigan and she loves it up there but the winters are terrible, especially when you're used to Florida. Best of luck.
