I may be away for a bit

Moving day tomorrow. Family will remain in Florida until the house sells. House is currently under contract and we've placed a bid on one in Michigan. Have a back up plan for other houses as well in case this one falls thru. The big hurdle will be to get ours "pending" instead of under contract. I wish I could stay here a bit longer as there are still issues here that need to be completed but I start my new job Monday.
Hopefully your housing is straightened out and your family will join you soon. Best of luck with your new job! Travel safely!

Hard to believe that plant is closing. We lived in Niceville for 24 years and if the wind was just right you could catch whiff's of the mill 40 miles away. My stepmom and her husband were stationed at Tyndal in the 60s and she still have memories of the smells coming from that plant

Hey Mike, new to the forum, but just wondering how the move went and how the family is doing. But howdy from West Texas - John
Sorry I have been pretty busy and haven't been around here much.

I am happy to report we are in our new house! Florida home sold in 4 days but it took forever to get things done. In a nutshell, sold Florida home and bought one in Michigan the next day.

We still don't have our furniture. It's in storage and won't arrive until August 10 or so.... So no Pit Boss for me until after that date! I haven't smoked anything since March! I fear the pellets I left in there are probably crud by this point! Will deal with that when the time arrives. When I get hooked up I will plug both of them up and let them run for a half hour to make sure there are no issues.

New job going well, basically doing the same stuff I did at my old job. As expected there is a bit of a learning curve and that will take some time to get everything in my brain but it will come.

Wife and youngest daughter enjoying it here. Lots of wildlife and nature trails. We are on air mattresses until furniture arrives and they are ok with that because the like the area and love the new house. Double the size of our old one and housing here is cheaper than Florida!

That's fantastic Mike! I think all of us have waiting to hear that news. I'm so glad things worked out for you and your family. Good to have you back.

Oldest daughter on break from FSU so she flew up last weekend for a visit and will stay here until school starts back up in Florida. Went ahead and booked her a flight for Thanksgiving and Christmas as well so she will be back a few more times this year.

So far this whole thing has turned out to be a blessing. Things seem to be very positive here.

Glad to hear things are going well, Mike. Hope you're ready for the cold winters.

80 degrees here this morning and started the day with a rocket launch. There is a 2nd launch scheduled for later today. Best of luck with the new job and new home.

Finally got our belongings on Wed. Many of our items were ruined, broken or destroyed. The movers packed a garden hose with our computer! So our computer, printer and monitor are fried. They even packed in a bag of pellets with the computer and saw dust is everywhere.

Both my Pit Boss smokers are covered but I have no idea what shape they are in I have been so busy at work that I haven't had time to look at them to make sure they are not broken.

Those numbskulls packed the grease bucket in with my wife's clothes! Ruined! Broken dishes, busted lamps, etc. Filing a claim with the moving company.

Working all weekend so I doubt I'll have time to inspect my smokers and see if they work. I'm hoping the door to the vertical smoker isn't broken.
