SMOKE iT APP Questions? New SMOKE iT APP!

Ok sorry but more confusion.
i was told legacy over the phone yesterday. I’m cooking on it now. Works fine.
now I got reply to Rhe email I sent back yesterday.
it says Smoke it. NO Legacy.
im fixing to uninstall this working software. Maybe BOTH will actually work.
im a little beyond well you know.

Hey man
I in iOS Apple iPhone. Running PBV4PS2.
After trying the ones that seemed to come and go and then not working in the iOS App Store one popped up named Smoke-iT. No legacy was in the title. Anyway it had the old black background. Not the new white. When I downloaded to my iPhone the name below the icon said SmokeitLegacy.
I waited several hours. Checked the all store again and now the black interface was named Legacy. Lol.
but the description stated for Pit Boss.
The white interface new looking one the description says for Lockhart and Combo models.
So I test drive the black one. Which looks like an upgraded version of the original and it ran good. I then did a short cook. Again good. I still wasn’t positive because I understood we would be using the new white interface. So I emailed support. Got a kind of confusing response. But it had a phone number. I called and spoke to a gentleman and he told me my PBV4PS2 would run the black Smoke iT Legacy which was the one I still had on my iPhone.
I am now as I’m typing this cooking some ribs and it is still working fine.
only problem I’ve had so far is once it seemed to quit responding. I noticed the little Bluetooth icon was gone. So I shut it down. And just brought it back up and it’s back running good.
move made temp changes a couple of times and all went well.
so now after reading all that’s been put up today I’m surely confused. The Support guy told me over the phone I would use Legacy. I am using it now. Seems good. Now I think I’m understanding I’m suppose to be using the new white interface Smoke It??
And honestly. I’m not trying to be aggravating. Just confused.

Hey! On you iPhone hold you finger down on the SMOKE iT icon, it will ask if you want to remove it.....you do. Go to the app store, there will be 2, SMOKE iT Legacy (old) and SMOKE IT (new). You will know you have the new one because it will have "tabs" across the bottom' Home/Recipies/Grill/Shop/More. Tap on Grill, then tap on the + sign in the top left corner and go through steps 1-6, your done. <))))><

SMOKE iT Legacy (old) SMOKE IT (new), delete the old one, install the new one. It will lead you throught set up. <))))><

that has not been the issue.
the issue is. When I finally phoned support they said my smoker used legacy.
I install legacy.
legacy ran great for one trial run and two cooks. Actually second one going now.
then I come back in here and see to NOT use legacy. ok. We’ve all known that since you first posted this stuff.
however when smoke it first appeared in App Store. It would not function on my smoker. That’s why I phoned.
Telephone support told me to use legacy.
here, you have said all along just smoke it.

ok again I have smoke it installed.
I hope it works as good as what I just deleted.

seems like everybody would be on the same page.

The SMOKE iT Legacy designation was just to be able to tell the new from the old. If anyone if using the Legacy (old) app without problems I wouldn't change it unless you just want the new features e.g. - recipies, etc. <))))><

Well. I did read the directions. And followed directions from support over the phone. And btw as of right now Smoke it still says for two models. Lockhart and combo. Not all.

The information the app displays is information from the grill. Sounds like you have a weak BlueTooth signal (above -45db) and it is not sending out correct information? <))))><

Don’t know. But I wouldn’t think it horrible.
I went ahead mid-cook and changed the apps. Took the Legacy out. Downloaded and installed Smoke iT.
It didn’t interrupt a thing as far as the cook went. But some observations.
The Smoke It would not make a temp change. I could change it on my phone. It would blink awhile and go back to the old temp. Tried it a couple of times. Also the conditions, fan, auger, igniter either wouldn’t display as the control at all. Or a couple of times, they would but delayed.
Which that doesn’t really bother me that
Much, but unable to change the temp from the app. Well that a biggie in my book. Oddly enough, without going through all the whys etc. While running the Legacy version through a test run about
An hour and half long. A short cook. And today’s cook up until I changed it out. It ran perfectly. Temp changes. App to control etc. All were perfect.
One time I noticed it seemed to just be sitting not doing much. The Bluetooth logo was just Sitting where it had been blinking. I closed it and brought it back up and the Bluetooth emblem was there blinking again and it went on.
go figure.
Oh yea. The signal strength you mentioned. I assume that’s aimilar
To WiFi RSSI? I wouldn’t have a way I don’t think to actually check that.
But it was obviously strong enough to feed data to the Legacy app.

OK Skoke iT Guy, is this the new app? I have not downloaded the new one but my phone did do an updated the other day and this is what it is showing now on the home screen. I have the KC Combo.

One thing I do love about the new app is the ability to view the cooking graph.

Well after everything yesterday I put that one back in. It would connect but would not perform any commands.
the other one ran perfectly.
Im gonna try it again In A bit and see what it does. If it doesn’t work right I’ll prob put the other one back in. It worked through a test run and two cooks.
the new one White interface won’t cooperate. Good luck man. Lol.

no not yet, I will try this weekend.
I have a little party to attend to this Saturday, have to BBQ for about 20 - 30 people, (someone else's BBQ)
That's always fun, NOT, it should be fun to play with a strange grill, did I spell that right?
but Sunday I will try to figure it out.
