SMOKE iT APP Questions? New SMOKE iT APP!

OK. It’s Smoke-It Legacy now. Lol.
only a few hours old. And says it’s the newest.
BUT it’s back to a simpler looking black background. Nooks almost identical to the original Smoke It. No tabs recipes or the other stuff.
I tried the one with white BG everyone was using yesterday.
I had some poor connections. WiFi I think was good but uncertain about Bluetooth at all. Also the fan igniter and auger icons did not function to match the control at all.
aome other things as well.
so this morning I checked at App Store and found this version. Interesting the file size on this was is 200 something. the one yesterday was much smaller.
I went ahead and attempted setup.
it actually went pretty well. Bluetooth is showing on app when using. The fan auger and igniter all match the control.
temo changes seem to be immediate. And it let me even power it down from the app. Which I could never do with my original one.
So
Back to black
Connected well
Machine icons matched apps
Temp changes from app immediate
Power down worked good.

so I don’t know what they’re doing besides messing with my head.

but this one. For ME. Right now seems to work.

I shut it down. Mamas getting some chicken ready. And I’m gonna do a small short cook.
Somebody else mentioned it. But I think they’re shuffling it out right now and are running into problems.

And I’ll bet there Will eventually be a Smoke-it without legacy again soon.

I got a feeling there’s a bunch of scrambling going on right now.
there have been like 4 or 5 different versions out up and taken down at the App Store. I did screenshots of most. Hard to believe.
I keep going back to the app guy saying legacy would be the original. I’m thinking updated. And he then said the totally NEW one would be Smoke it.
ive seen Smoke-iT with a dash. Which was up last night. But I went ahead and did the Legacy one like everyone else was trying.
it was prettier I guess. Lol. But I didn’t care for all the crap. Ads. Well all that stuff. But I tried anyway. Worked worse than what we originally had. So I was gonna take it off this morning anyway. Then I look and whoa and behold Smoke-iT. (No legacy) and it said for PB. Didn’t specify the two types the other one did and it had been put up late last night sometime.
next thing I saw was the one everyone is trying is now gone. Just this black one.
but so far it connected on mine well. I def have Bluetooth. The icons and numbers work. Everything I tried has worked.
But my gut tells me there will be another pop up without the Legacy in the name.
considering this one looks so much like the original. And the version is like 2.9.2. I have to believe this is an updated of the old one.
If mine in fact keeps working I’ll just use it. If the other version I suspect comes out I’m calling.
All this is nuts.

Man I hate to say it but I agree 100%.
And I’ve tried my best to stay absolutely positive. I’m retired and too hot out to do much so I believe I can honestly say I’ve been checking as much or probably more than anybody in here. I made the first post as far as I know when that first one popped up. Ans yes sir you described it perfectly. A 3 ring circus. There’s so much confusion about this it’s unreal.
I don’t want to rehash a ton of stuff but I do want to point out. The app guy said there would be two versions. A smoke it Legacy which is the old app. I can only assume updated. And he said simply Smoke It. And that would be the new version.
correct me If im wrong. So I see the first new one. And post because I know everyone’s waiting. It’s named Smoke-iT. Simply that. A dash in between two words. But no legacy in it.
Then we find when it’s downloaded the file name changes to Smoke-it Legacy. I mean WHAT????
Then it goes away and another pops up. Man I’m not even gonna try to remember it all. But several people were running them testing with mixed results. The description at App Store said for two types. Mine was neither. So I didn’t load it.
last night I finally tried one with the new white interface that a lot were trying. Did not cooperate on mine. Deleted it out.

there was another popped up this morning I believe. It appears to be the old app updated. But it’s named Legacy. I bite the bullet and try it. It’s baxk to the black interface. Ans lists mine during setup. What I’ve done with it has worked but I really haven’t done that much. Also none of the cool stuff the tabs and extras are in it.
right now I’m so confused I’m not going to do anything else until we hear something official from PB and the developers
And for the record I have screen shots of about all of it at the App Store.
I’m trying not to be hasty. And I can understand something technical like this can have a lot of issues. But where where is anyone official to help everybody through this.
Im gonna try and just shut up now. Gonna wait and if anything isn’t clarified in a couple of days I’ll try phoning.

I tell you what, this circus is getting pretty ridiculous. SMOKE IT App Guy went AWOL, the apps are switching hourly, and everyone is confused. Almost ready to say screw it, take out the WiFi controller, put the original one back in, and return for my money back.

Well I can’t say I blame ya one bit. I can understand something techie like this being a pain and a lot of problems to launch. What I don’t understand is why SIAG (smoke it app guy) even made the announcement to start with.
I still say if it had been my job to do it I can promise you I wouldn’t have said anything until a good working version was up.
and at this point with all the changes where the heck is SIAG or ANYBODY from PB, Dansons, or t2Fi the developers ro help ???

I’m a retired M Engr of 44 years. And the last probably 25 or so to one degree or another I’ve been involved in releases similar to this. Not creating them or anything. More so working on whatever product rhe software (app) was created or updated for.
you NEVER just start throwing them out.
there’s been a few that the old app was working decent inthink. Now they’ve been deleted and one of the multitudes of the new ones installed and some performing poorly or not at all. And that old one is gone.
Right now I set up and used the black bg legacy yesterday. While it’s worked pretty good I still do not believe it’s the NEW one rhe SIAG was talking about.
this time I did download the other one a few minute ago but have not launched it yet. Will try maybe later in today as I’m tied up for the day awhile.

i didn’t buy a new controller like it sound you did. Mine came this way.

regardless this is no way for a company to do business.

However, I just checked again and now the SMOKE IT app and the SMOKE IT Legacy apps are both back up. The SMOKE IT app is now a new update of 3.0.1, saying it was available 21 hours ago. But that was not the case for me this morning.

I was able to get my Austin XL with the upgraded WiFi controller to connect to the 3.0.0 version after several tries.

I have just about had it. I wish the SIAG would show up again with some tiny bit of info. I have never had this many issues with one app before.

I’m glad I’m not the only one seeing those two coming and going. Names changing. And all that stuff lol.
the one I last put in well let’s just call it the Black one. Too dang confusing calling by name since they’re coming and going and names changing and all that stuff.
So for me I’m gonna refer as white one and black one.
okey doke. The black one was put in yesterday and it seemed ok to the extent I tested it. I kinda got hung up on the speed of the temp climbing I didn’t do much with it. And I’ve figured out it was probably fine. I don’t usually stare it down like a hawk. Lol. However with these apps I’m watching. Paying attention to them vs what the control said.
So the black one when I downloaded it said Smoke-it. But when downloaded it changed the name to legacy. Lol. In App Store it says it’s for pit boss. The white one says for lockhart and combo series. Which mine is neither. So maybe tomorrow I’m gonna drive it again. Even though the black one …… Aw heck I give up. Just gonna see if it still works. The white one with all the cool stuff doesn’t specify mine. It MAY during install but……. But I’m confusing myself.

Wait. Just a thought. I have the black one installed and ran yesterday. But didn’t do a lot of things other than monitor.
Now I have the white one downloaded but haven’t done anything with it. I wonder if it’s possible to install both and see how they compare etc. Yea…. I know. Prolly begging for trouble. Lol.
